PROJECT PARTNERS

Stredni skola designu a umeni, knizni kultury a ekonomiky Nahornii
We have run several Erasmus+ projects since 2016. The topic of this project is different from the previous ones because we want to expand our focus, in other words it is challenging “to try something new” which could help our school to be updated. We offer to study branches as follows: graphic designers, booksellers, economists, librarians (these are 4-year-long studying branches with “maturity” as the final exam) and window dressers (3-year-long studying program).
We have been running the literary competition “Čapkoviny” for 10 years. Pupils and students from all over the Czech Republic take part in the competition. We also organize art exhibitions (e.g. the last one took place in Novoměstská radnice).
In the field of international cooperation, we have run several projects under the Erasmus+ program (KA1 + KA2). The project “Creative Teacher - Creative Students” got European Language Label Award in 2017.
Our previous projects focused on reading literacy, creativity, culture, intergenerational relationships and history. We learned a lot and we shared our gained knowledge with other schools, organizations, and the public (we published articles, books, seminars, training, lectures, and regularly put info on our school website). Now we would like to expand our focus and pay attention to science and how to teach it outdoors. We found a suitable place near our school where we can try and share activities from the field of 1) history and geology 2) physics and 3) biology We also want to involve the students in the production of the eBook output, namely they can make the design of the book because we have classes in web design and booksellers. We consider that this would be a perfect link between school curricula and the real work environment and the students will practically contribute to the visual and ‘marketing’ aspect of book creation.
Our secondary school provides vocational education to 573 students aged 15-19.

Colegiul National "Vasile Alecsandri", Bacau
The organisation provides educational services in line with the national curriculum to students aged 11-19. The higher secondary level consists of 32 upper-secondary classes in general education (grades 9-12). For this project initiative we are addressing the lower-secondary level which includes 6 lower secondary classes (Grades 5-8) with 200 students. We offer the students in compulsory education educational services to cover for their general knowledge basis, so that they can choose to specialise in a certain profile after Grade 8, when they sit the National Evaluation Exam that allows them to access a form of upper-secondary education (general, technical studies). Almost unanimously, our students opt for general studies and most of them continue in our college. The subjects taught in lower-secondary education and the corresponding no. of teachers are: Romanian (3 teachers), Maths (3), English (3), French (1) or German (1), History (2), Geography (2), Science (4), OE (2), Arts(1)
The school has been operating for 100 years. It is an educational institution with tradition in the area. We first organised lower secondary classes 20 years ago. We offer general training to students in the subjects mentioned above. In the upper secondary level, we are organising classes according to profiles and specialisations: Philology intensive English and bilingual English, Social Science, Natural Science, Maths-Computer Science. There are classes who study this specialisation with intensive study of English (3 out of 6 per level). In terms of the topic of the project, we have little experience in outdoor learning. Although we do have extracurricular activities that involve spending time outdoors, we have rarely used it as a substitute for classroom work. That is why we are interested in the cooperation on the topic.
The lower-secondary level addresses an age group of 11-14 which includes a number of 200 students distributed in 6 classes. The upper-secondary level covers the age group 15-18. There are 1000 students in this group distributed in 32 classes (8 per Grade level). Our students are from a mixture of backgrounds - mainstream as well as challenged socially, economically, geographically. An approximate 35% of students come from single-parent families, 37% of them are commuters from rural areas. According to the reports from the counselling department, at least 40% of them are facing psychological challenges, adaptation problems and other difficulties in coping with either family issues or handling depression. Despite the facts and numbers, our students successfully participate in school contests and contribute to the positive image of the school at local, regional or national level.
